It was a season that put the Green Bay Phoenix on a national stage, their first tournament appearance in 20 years, and that same weekend, a future member of the Phoenix, hit a big stage as well.
SPASH senior Trev Anderson committed to Green Bay last fall and although this weekend he was preparing for the biggest game of his career, he still kept an eye on his future team.
“They’ve had a great run, I don’t think a lot of people expected this. I know I believed in them obviously,” said Anderson.
Anderson’s senior season has been a special one. He was recently named co-player of the year by the WBCA and entered the state tournament averaging 24.9 points per game, an impressive guard, who’s a big fan of Linc Darner.trev
“I think he plays well with guards in his system that can shoot the ball, and I think I can shoot it a little bit, so I think i’m gonna fit that system well.”
Darner set the bar high at Green Bay in his first season, implementing a system that led to success, and looking ahead to next year, Anderson’s fully aware of the expectations.
“Obviously here at SPASH, we got a lot of expectations so I’ve dealt with that before and I know coming in there’s gonna be expectations to get there again.”
The 6’2 guard helped the SPASH Panthers win back to back state titles this past weekend in Madison, in the final games of his high school career, and now looks forward to bringing his talents to Green Bay.
“I think it’s gonna be cool to play at the Resch. I’ve watched 2 or 3 games this year and I loved it so hopefully we can sell that thing out a couple times and that would make the experience even more exciting.”
